'Winter Solstice and Holiday Greetings to Everyone'
By Judy Chan

Millions of stunning stars surround.
Sounds of silence,
interrupted by a shooting star.
Later, a rising round ruminates.
A warm breeze drifts by and by.
A man and a woman afloat, children play below,
laughing, giggling, as pleasure fills the anchorage.

Millions of thoughts in the quiet of the moment,
stir our minds to wander.
Thus, on the eve of the winter solstice,
the mysteries of nature's wonders become
secrets of a search.
Under a veil of silence,
in an isolated and remote anchorage,
where we swing.

One planet placed among many,
one species sequestered among millions,
one individual among the infinitesimal.

When the children ask,
we have few wisdoms to bestow,
but these....
DREAM.
QUESTION.
SHARE, often.

Then the children say,
"Seeing isn't believing,
believing is seeing."
So, we add,
BELIEVE.

So, we believe there will be an end to this "war".
So, we believe that words will not become tools of hatred.
So, we believe wisdom and knowledge will triumph over ignorance.
Life is precious. Let us not dispense it idly.

So, it is with loving kindness, gratitude bestowed.
Peace befits and befalls,
even in an isolated and remote anchorage,
where we swing.

We wish you the favored greeting of the Costa Ricans,
"Pura vida".
"For the good of life".
