Passage Note Day 2
Website Entry: Sailing Vessel Encanto
8 November 2005Day 2
We are underway to Costa Rica.
In the night, we passed through Nicaragua.
An uneventful passage,
Sighting one or two dolphin,
A couple of mating turtles,
Frigate birds circle and a Booby bird resides on the mast. The winds blasting us forward then dies to floppy calms.
Beating,
We find ourselves in that unfamiliar starboard lean.
Gimble the stove.
Encanto reaching up and over six knots,
Fully loaded with provisions, fuel and folks.
Slicing through navy blue waters,
A cool wind in our hair and our lungs filled with freshness.
The sails full and extended, the lines creak under tension.
I am reminded, it’s “krinkle, krinkle, krinkle” time. All is well.
No sacrifices to King Poseidon.
All is well.No one seems to need more than the blue water and this healthy breeze.
It feels good to be underway to the next adventure.
Everyone is doing well during our voyage.
The girls are doing well on their afternoon four-hour watches and school lessons.
First mate is doing her dark hour, star and moon watch at midnight and cooking meals.
And the sturdy Captain does the rest, our champion, and our hero.
We move effortlessly, like in a familiar routine.Clouds hover, full and gray as the sun bids good night.
Panga fishermen make their way out to sea.
And we,
Just ah, zip-a-dee-doo-dah right on by ‘em.Alaskason sails side by side with Encanto.
A fun race for two stout boats,
A race into the darkness of nightfall,
A course full of small fishing boats,
luckily lights swing from their bows,
but still,
targets to avoided.Onward, as we make our way
to the warm clean waters of Santa Elena.website: www.encanto.nl
