Encanto: Splish, Splash, we be taking a BATH
April 13,2007-Friday

4/12/2007: Splish, splash, we, be floating...not without a bit of trouble: transmission hose popped and all the fluid spilled out when we were in the last 30 seconds of reverse, testing the hold of the anchor. We at least were well anchored outside the marina before it popped. No danger. Seemed to be a simple matter of tightening a hose clamp. Ah, how the simple things can cause trouble.

Later in the afternoon, when John tried to start the watermaker, the seals leaked on the watermaker. Only a little fresh water aboard so he was motivated to get it fixed. Got THAT fixed, now making H2O. It was a tough start, but we be gently rolling. AND WE ARE AFLOAT after nearly 6 months on the hard.

While the Captain was running around fixing stuff....Everyone else had risen early, 6am, so we were all tired by the afternoon.  Sami and I felt nausea, so we slept most the afternoon (Nap Attack).  Anya finished a book. Gaby just hummed along coloring in her Latino Disney Princess books. Everyone had spent the morning preparing for the launch, including: scrubbing the decks, rugs, windows, etc. so, we were all exhausted by day's end. Launched at High Noon and High Tide. Sounds like a movie title....

Alas, we ended the day with a gorgeous sunset, incredible pastel sky, and a great meal of fresh tuna, steamed veggies, coconut rice and a poppy seed Cuban rum cake and lots of laughter and the occasional spontaneous napkin flying banter. Ah, life with the Captain and his crew is good.

Captain opened a present of a pair of new SPLASHY, flashing swim pants in Black with Grey and Lime Green accents...too cool. A surprise gift from the girl's Dutch Uncles....hummm great color scheme.  Someone else has a great mind!!!

Encanto is wearing her platinum gown with lime green trimming. She B. beeeeeauuuutiful or maybe even stunning is a better term. Captain is finally happy with 80% if her appearance. In hindsight, wish we had done the decks, but time, money and effort was just too much. Oh, well maybe in 5 years that will be the NEXT big effort.

Today, lots more tasks for what we didn't get done yesterday, for the Captain (sump pump hook up, etc.). Judy and Anya are off to check us OUT of the country and more errands... and obviously, to buy some more transmission fluid. And the girls will study for their next exams. They are mid-way through their course materials.

We will try to leave on Sunday for the Galapagos Islands, after a day of rest on Saturday. Still, lots to do, so little time to do it in.

more later, can't write too long at the computer while rolling, making me get a little headache and nause.

Ciao,
Judy and my gang of 4-- everyone else is still asleep....
