Monday-Day 3 underway
A stunning 12:30 AM moon rise, just like the "Dreamworks" opening shot, only missing the kid and the fishing pole. Yes, the moon does rise, sitting on its cusp.
Still going slow…you can walk faster than we are going. Occasionally drifting, adrift?
1600 (4PM): During the girl's watch…Gaby sights 2 or 3 pilot whales off our stern, within 3' of the boat. They were about fifteen feet long. They even dived below the boat, probably to check out our unusual bulb keel. Meanwhile, the water was so clear that we watched three Dolphin fish (Mahi Mahi) circle the boat and swim AROUND our lure. The water clarity was incredible, like nothing we've seen before while underway, absolutely beautiful emerald green.
Yet another gorgeous sunset; no green flash; Anya is waiting to see that natural phenomena.
Nighttime entertainment was watching with a spotlight as small 3" fish with golden orb eyes and assorted jellyfish swiftly swim by. The jellyfish display was as good as being at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Green phosphoresces is abundant. The advantage of going sooooo slow is that we can see these gifts of the sea. This is the eternal optimist's perspective, even at 1-3 knots, there is something beautiful to see and experience, if we rushed by at 7 knots, we would miss these gems.
No one has expressed discontent, impatience or anxiousness; we seem to easily have returned to the routine of life underway. We do not find ourselves stumbling over each other or get in each other's way. Our days fill with daily boat maintenance, watches, reading, sleeping, eating, sharing, schooling, cooking, and playing Mah Joong. Our days flow with easiness, time for togetherness and solitude, laughter and quiet, silliness and thoughtfulness. All is well. We are content out at sea.
Nightly we are watching the constellations, trying to figure out whether the bright orbs are planets or stars. They reach the horizon, sometimes confusing me. Yes, earth is round. Was that a boat's mast light in the distance or a star? Was that Jupiter or just a star? Was that heaven in the distance? Oooh, another falling star…quick, make a wish…our last wishes on the 25 day passage came true and now we have Bo coos…
