July 29, 2007, Sunday, Day 24
Dined with the guests of the Tetamanu Resort, a facility with about twelve bungalows, a dive shop and a restaurant managed by Annabelle and Raymond. We enjoyed a brunch made by Raymond that included two types of fried fish, rice, bread, pasta, and pizza.
Where else, but in the cruising community can you be driving home from a nice Sunday brunch and then be waved over to your neighbor's boat. These were neighbors who were strangers. We climbed aboard their catamaran, s/v Nusa Dua ( means: Two Islands in Indonesian), with Captain Pierre, First Mate Mathilde and two and half year old, Lino. Aboard, while we sipped coffee, we compared cruising notes and joys/woes of the lifestyle. Their voyage started years ago in La Rochelle, France, along the way, Lino was conceived and born in Grenada (Caribbean Islands). Lino is a true "boat kid"; totally being raised on a boat. On land, Pierre is an actor (He is known for his performance in 'An American Werewolf in Paris', but says we wouldn't recognize him.). Mathilde is an artist- painter. We were fortunate to be able to flip through her portfolio of whimsical illustrations of the South Pacific and West Indies. Judy took home Mathilde's recipe for their daily bread, which was quick, easy, and delicious.
The visit was great fun; always wonderful to meet new people.
Crew Anya:
After a 'light' breakfast (French bread!!) we enjoyed some reading time before going to Annabella's for lunch. The outside restaurant was right over coral so we could watch the fish - including the black-tipped sharks - as we enjoyed our wonderful food. We even got the leftovers to take home and enjoy later! I liked throwing the fishbones over the side and watching the fish dig in. It was a true explosion of color.
I have once again come to the conclusion that this is a wonderful lifestyle and YES!! This is what I want to keep doing in my life: travel! Being with the AmberChans and now meeting Mathilde and Pierre has made it ever so clear. I especially liked s/v Nusa Dua's life motto 'Sail Fast, Live Slow', as shown on one of Mathilde's paintings.
