Captain: We have had clear skies (yeah) and rain (ugh-especially at night, ugh-ugh) and fairly light winds. At least we didn't get plastered right out of the gate.

Had several surprises on the Southern Cross Net last night, spoke with Eric, s/v META, who was hauled out in Ecuador with us. He and his wife, Ginna, are on their way to Japan. They were already underway to Tuvalu.

Then, we spoke with s/v Purrrfection, the boat we traveled with in the Marquesas and Tuamotus. Jennifer and Sam have kids (Tori and Ally) the same age as Gabe and Sam. They were supposed to be on the fast track to New Zealand, but instead, found jobs that they liked in American Samoa - the very same place we are headed! Kinda neat. I know Gabe and Sam are looking forward to "teen time." And Judy will try to accomplish a ton of chores (family check-ups: dentist, optometrist, dermatologist, etc.) and provision for the next eight months. We are told this is the place to do it.

First Mate is feeling a little blue. She fixed us delicious lasagna, which we will enjoy for several days while she makes the usual adjustment to the roll and pitch.
