October 4th 2007: Vessel underway
Left Sunday, 30Sept, at noon from Bora Bora. That's 3 1/2 days ago.
We be, a "vessel underway", to Suvarow and American Samoa. Don't know if we'll get to stop at the bird reserve at Suvarow as we hit a trough that had us speeding along with a double reef in the MainSail and buckets of water being dumped. We were like that for a long, 12 hours. First time John has had to pull out his foul weather gear since we left SF. Wow, he still fit 'em.
Luckily, the Captain was well rested after a "normal" day (the day before). Today, he did all the work. Judy was just trying to pull it together to keep from puking at any moment. She had a severe case of claustrophobia after being below for 12 hours or more. Gaby reheated, the never ending supply of pre-made lasagna, and kept the cheery smile. Sami hung in there and did what she could do to hold us in good stead.
Now, just after midnight and we are "be calmed". Yup, no wind, no wet. Nada, zip, but still big swells and leftover slosh. I sent the Captain to bed. All is well.
Not much else to report. Just gotta grin and bear what we are in...and let tomorrow come as it may. All are safe and as well as can be expected.... The Captain is snoring, life is good.
Cheers to all.
