S/V Encanto underway to Suvarov Reserve
(Cook Islands, New Zealand)

October 4th 2007, Thursday

Captain: All is good.  (06:30 local time).  Yesterday was indeed an ugly day. We had winds consistent in the 25-30 knot ranges with higher gusts and rain. We were in the proverbial flat rock in the pasture. Although, we did just fine, had a double reef in the Mainsail for most of the time, no jib up. We still have the double reef in the main to port, and a poled out full jib to starboard. The wind is building again, so I may roll part of the jib up soon.

The clouds are thinning; I could see the moon this morning. So much overcast sky that the peek of light from the moon is a welcomed sight. To the east the clouds are breaking up and the sunrise was a beautiful red/orange. Should be a fairly good day. Maybe not relaxing, but a good day.
