Sailing Vessel Encanto is home. Captain and crew arrived and sailed under the Golden Gate Bridge on Friday morning, 8/8/08.

In the Chinese culture that is an auspicious day…and therefore they had fan fare with fireworks and thousands gathered in china, Beijing to hail their return…Ok, Ok, so they shared their homecoming with the Olympics…another kind of adventure.

s/v Encanto is safely tied up at Pillar Point Marina. All crew are either safely home or on their way to home. We are sooooo grateful to them. Thanks R-man and G-man!

…Ending our journey won’t end our life experience. We hope to continue to send in occasional blogs and website entries. As you might expect, we are sometimes dazed and confused by land life and some of you who take your life for “routine” might smile and get some joy outta our transition. So, I wrote the following:

Last week, I was asked how reentry had been going…”Good but very busy, very, very busy”. And how am I maintaining any as semblance of the joy we had when living the cruising lifestyle? My answer was this…….

  1. Celebrate every day, even something small like saying “hello” to a passerby- extend kindness, it’s habit forming.
  2. Pay attention to what’s real: Not only smell the roses, remember to listen for the birds, savor the taste of something freshly picked or made, hug more, and more often, and feel the wind in your hair or the joy as you learn one new thing. Tap all your senses—including your “sense of humor”. Every Day!!!! Laugh lots!
  3. We intend to paint a wall in our apartment blue, just to keep us reminded of the sea and its beauty….now which color blue is an incredibly difficult but fun process. Must I choose one? Hummmmm
  4. And remember---- Life is only as complicated as you want to make it. Help someone by making their lives a little less complicated.

Maybe you can incorporate these in your busy lives? Need not be a seaman to live every day richly. Enjoy your life, everyday.
