BIGGEST TIP (listen up all ye’ Captains)
Let the crew bring their favorite items to make a “home”, even if this means adjusting your expectations for the perfect ratio of boat weight to speed. A happy crew is one that will cruise longer and be happy longer.
We are meeting far too many unhappy, mostly wives and crew, who are unhappy due to the fact that they feel they are living uncomfortably and without their favorite consumable or non-consumable (e.g. let them bring that bin of quilting squares, sentimental book or picture of Auntie Bessie or favorite ceramic mug or 5 lb bag of chocolate espresso beans)!
It is worth accepting these as NEEDS of a boat, to make it HOME. If you want to stay out cruising for any lengthen of time, don’t be a tightwad!
