INFORMATION ON FOOD PROVISIONING:
Although we are believers in eating, as in the country to which we reside, occasionally we want a favorite ethnic meal or American brand consumable. Almost every USA consumable (e.g. food) item is sold in Mexico. You might have to go to several shops in the major cities, but most items can be found. A few cruisers have had difficulties finding the following favorite items:
- Pectin & Sure Gel (for canning & preserves)
- Canning jars and equipment
- Canadian Dry brand ginger ale
- Rice noodles, wonton noodles, egg roll noodles
- East Indian Products (e.g. curry paste, hot chili paste, chutneys)
- Pork ‘n Beans
- Canned Chicken
- Unsweetened coconut milk
- American brand Peanut Butter in GIANT sizes
- Pretzels
- Dark European Chocolate
- dried Tortillini
- dried Ravioli
- Egg Noodles
- Vitamins (especially specialty supplements, available, but very expensive)
- Molasses
- Blueberry Jam
- Couscous, Polenta
- Falafal, Tabouli, Pad Thai, Tempura mix
- Instant Tapioca pearls
- Crystal Lite powdered drink
- Specialty rices (e.g. Basmati)
- Specialty sausages (e.g. apple/chicken, german)
- German marzipan
- American Brand Cookies (except Oreos)
- Turkey or Beef Jerky
- Dried Shitaki and other dried mushrooms; some sold fresh
- Crisco brand shortening; lard available
- Sprouting seeds
- Graham cracker/flour
- Rye Bread
- Popcorn oil or salt
- Dark Roasted Coffee Beans
- Specialty Black, Green, Roobis or Mint Teas
